I believe it’s important to take time to enjoy the complete beauty that the world has to offer.
Whenever I’m sad I want to go to the beach. I believe this was something long engraved in my soul from when I was a child.
I remember when I was younger and my family would take a vacation to the beach every year. My grandmother and I would wake up really early to see the sunrise and find the best seashells. One time we even found two complete sand-dollars! If you’re familiar with seashell hunting you know that this is a rarity because sand dollars are so fragile that often break apart in the crash of the waves or when they hit the shore.
Anyway back to the grandmotherly advice, I remember there was a time we were walking a long the shore and my grandma stopped and looked out into the ocean. I did the same, mimicking her deep breaths and thinking she was just taking in the moment to soak up the salty air and warmth from the newly risen sun. She said when she looks at the waves she imagines them taking away worry and bringing in peace in return.
So every time I hear the sweet sound of the ocean I close my eyes and envision this. The ocean is so large and can encompass so much doubt and worry into its depths, pulling it deeply under and purifying it with its saltiness and bringing back peace and tranquility to me.
