I had the honor of chaperoning with my daughter’s class on a trip to Washington, D.C! I haven’t been here since I was on the same trip in 5th grade! It felt so different than it did when I was younger but a lot of it was the same, the buildings still felt grade, the history was still rich and there was so many more additions to the trip that were exciting! I feel like I was really able to take in a lot more of the information than I was before!
War Memorials!

The World War II Memorial was so large that I couldn’t get it all in one picture!
The etched names and pictures from both the Vietnam War Memorial was astounding and so heart wrenching. So many causalities and losses were depicted here.

The Capitol Building was stunning is architecture. I loved the great details that went into it! This was the closest we were able to get because of a special guest that was visiting D.C!

Thomas Jefferson Memorial was so pretty. Jefferson was a philosopher as well as a statesman and his Memorial is full of quotes that stressed liberty and equality as natural human rights.

The Martin Luther King Memorial is one of the newer additions that I didn’t see when I was a kid. It’s not pictured here but there are at least 14 quotes on either side of the memorial from Martin Luther’s Kings time as a civil rights activist.

The Washington Monument over the reflection pool.

Our visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

The Lincoln Memorial, although it was under construction was still huge. I’m not used to seeing statutes and marble and the beautiful, huge detail that comes with these memorials.

The closest we were able to get to the White House because of the Visitor. This was such a fun trip, we even went to several of the Smithsonian’s and went to the Pentagon Memeorial. It was jam packed for three days of fun and a lot of walking. It was still an impactful experience, and I recommend anyone who is able to go to go and see the rich histories that our county has. I want to go back and experience more on my own time and some of the different museums. Most of these places are free of charge unless you would like to have a tour guide with you to tell you ever5ything you need to know, most of them have been here for years!
