Happy Blogmas day 12!! Only… 19 more to go!
This was a hard one to do for sure..
My Top 5 favorite Christmas songs and why:
- Mary Did You Know: Penatonix
When I first heard this song as a mother.. It hit me different that any other cover I heard of this song and any other time I’ve heard of it at all. It’s such a powerful song to begin with. Telling the story of Mary and what all she agreed to when carrying that miracle little baby. The innocence of her child was faced an enormous task. Did she know? Did she know that her baby boy would one day rule the nation? Start a whole religion and change the very way the people view love and forgiveness and loss. That he was going to be people’s comfort for centuries to come?
2. All I Want For Christmas: Mariah Carey
On a completely different spectrum, I love this classic because it makes my jingle and jangle throughout the house while cleaning or decorating for Christmas. I sing at the top of my lungs to this song. Mariah would be.. disappointed and probably leave my presence with an ear ache but I will act like I have her vocals all day long.
3. The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late): Alvin and the Chipmunks & Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
These two are just a childhood favorite. I have always loved those little chipmunks and so does my little one so its just a fun little jam we have together and Rudolph is such a classic, fun song to sing along with children and makes my heart warm and feel with nostalgia.
4. The Christmas Shoes
The. Christmas. Shoes. brings tears to my eyes every. single. time. I love this song so much because it makes me feel. When the children choir comes in.. I can’t hold them back. It makes me think of the unconditional love children have for their parents and reminds me that joy and happiness is one of the core elements of Christmas. We get so caught up in getting the latest and greatest things for each other and stressing out so much on making sure it’s the ‘perfect” gift when the purpose of giving the gifts is to see the expression on the other persons face.. seeing the look of joy. Being compassionate and thoughtful.
What is your favorite Christmas song and why? I had a hard time making a list bu I knew that Mary Did You Know was my number one.
You can’t go wrong with Mariah Carey’s classic song! Oooh, love these other Christmas faves too! Thanks for sharing 🙂
