Christmas Movies I’ve Never Seen

This is a list of Christmas Classics that I’ve never seen but everyone talks about. Yes, I am slightly embarrassed by this list but I take pride in saying that THIS year I am going to watch every single movie on this list! I googled “Christmas Classics” and picked a few that I’ve never seen!

  1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

The reason why this made the top of my list is because every year my coworkers tell me to watch it and I always forget but apparently it’s a hilarious classic and a MUST see. It’s about a guy named Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and how he wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, his hick cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid), and his family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property.

2. Gremlins

I didn’t even know this was a Christmas movie. I know what Gremlins are, sort of.. I don’t know where they came from. It’s about this gadget salesman getting a special gift for his son and finds one in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the `mogwai’ but sells it to him with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens and the result is a gang of gremlins that decide to tear up the town on Christmas Eve.

3. Love Actually

I feel like I remember seeing something about this or the commercial or something but it sounds so precious and interesting! It’s about nine intertwined stories and the complexities of the one emotion that connects us all: love. Among the characters explored are David (Hugh Grant), the handsome newly elected British prime minister who falls for a young junior staffer (Martine McCutcheon), Sarah (Laura Linney), a graphic designer whose devotion to her mentally ill brother complicates her love life, and Harry (Alan Rickman), a married man tempted by his attractive new secretary.

4. Christmas with the Kranks

So I may have seen this.. That or I’m thinking to the Grinch.. Or something.. The whole best decrated house just gives me some sort of Christmas movie vibe that I can’t quite put my finger on. In this movie, Luther (Tim Allen) and Nora Krank (Jamie Lee Curtis) plan to eschew the Christmas traditions and take a cruise in the Caribbean instead. This doesn’t sit well with their Christmas-obsessed neighbors Vic Frohmeyer (Dan Aykroyd) and Walt Scheel (M. Emmet Walsh), who are determined to win the annual “best decorated street” competition, and the Kranks soon find themselves social outcasts because of their lack of Christmas spirit.

5. Jingle All The Way

This one sounds interesting and might be a good sweet, family movie night idea! This movie is a bout a workaholic named Howard Langston (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and how he wants to make things up to his son, Jamie (Jake Lloyd), and wife, Liz (Rita Wilson). He promises to get Jamie the hottest toy of the season, Turbo-Man — even though it’s Christmas Eve and the toy is practically sold out. As Langston hunts down the elusive gift, he runs into mailman Myron (Sinbad), another father on the same quest. With the clock winding down, Langston’s moral code is tested as he starts to learn the real meaning of Christmas.

6. The Night Before (2015)

This one sounds like a good one to watch on date night! In this movie lifelong buddies Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen) and Chris (Anthony Mackie) have gathered on Christmas Eve to celebrate the holidays with a bang. As Isaac prepares to become a first-time father, the friends realize that their annual tradition is coming to a sad end. To make it as memorable as possible, they plan a night of debauchery and hilarity by searching for the Nutcracka Ball, the Holy Grail of Christmas parties in New York.

There are plenty of more movies on there that I have never seen, some dating back to the 40s.. I never realized how uncultured I was until now. I think these 6 will be a great start to my christmas movie beige! I am so excited to see some of these. Later on I’m going to do a list of My Favorite Christmas Movies.. I wonder if some of these will come up on that list!

Have you seen any of these movies? What’s your favorite Christmas movie to watch? Let me know in the comments!

with love,

c.p
