What I Wish I Knew Before My First Trip:
GENERAL TIPS

- Arrive Early
Get to the parks 30–60 minutes before opening. Early morning hours have the shortest wait times. - Download the Universal Orlando App
It gives you wait times, showtimes, mobile food ordering, maps, and virtual line reservations. - Stay On-Site (if budget allows)
Resorts like Hard Rock, Royal Pacific, and Portofino Bay offer free Universal Express Unlimited, which lets you skip most ride lines. - Plan for at least 2-3 days
Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure both need a day, and Volcano Bay (the water park) can be a great bonus if you’re staying longer.
RIDES & LINES

- Use Single Rider Lines
If you don’t mind being split from your group, this saves a lot of time (available on major rides like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey or Revenge of the Mummy). - Hit Popular Rides First
Go straight to Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, VelociCoaster, or Escape from Gringotts in the morning before lines build up. - Virtual Line System
Some rides (especially Hagrid’s) use a virtual line — reserve a time on the app early in the day.
HARRY POTTER FANS

- Visit Diagon Alley First, Then Hogsmeade
Start at Universal Studios for Diagon Alley, then take the Hogwarts Express to Islands of Adventure for Hogsmeade (you need a Park-to-Park ticket to ride it). - Interactive Wands
Buy an interactive wand at Ollivanders. There are secret spots all over both Harry Potter lands to “cast spells” with it.
FOOD & DRINK

- Try Iconic Foods
Don’t miss Butterbeer (available frozen, hot, or cold), and the Big Pink Donut from Lard Lad Donuts in Springfield. - Mobile Order Meals
Use the app to skip lines at quick-service locations, especially during peak hours (noon to 2 PM).
PACKING & COMFORT

- Bring a Poncho or Light Rain Jacket
Florida weather changes quickly. Many outdoor rides shut down in the rain, so be prepared. - Use Lockers Smartly
Some rides require free lockers (e.g., Hulk, VelociCoaster). Travel light or bring a small crossbody bag that fits in lockers. - Stay Hydrated
You can ask for free ice water at most food stands. So there’s, no need to buy bottled water every time.
EXTRAS
- Catch the Nighttime Shows
Don’t miss The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle or Cinematic Celebration (check app for showtimes). - Buy Tickets in Advance
You’ll save money compared to gate prices and avoid long lines. - Universal Express Passes (if budget allows)
It allows guests to skip the regular lines at most rides and attractions at Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. There are two main types: Universal Express (one-time access per ride) and Universal Express Unlimited (unlimited access). Definitely worth it depending on when you go.
