Sometimes the people you want to be part of your story are only meant to be a chapter.
I love when book characters are human.
As a lover of fantasy novels and series, I don’t particularly mean human, human. Though, I love regular human books too.
I mean when the characters are real. When they’re relatable and complex. They aren’t entirely good or entirely evil. They are made up of a keldeiscope of feelings and experiences that make them who they are.
Because, the truth is that we are not black and white, we are not entirely good or entirely bad. We will play the villain in some people’s stories while we will be the savior in others. Life is a whirlwind of different experiences and as our experiences add up, they change us into different people. Not only that but our character development changes based on how we react to what the world gives us and when it does. We experience so much in our lifetime, everyday giving us another chance at life to make different choices.
We spend time shedding pieces of the old us just as quickly as we are working to build a new us.
Even if we are satisfied with who we are. Life is everchanging. No one is dealt the same cards.
I love reading books when the villain ends up being good or really just misunderstood because I feel like that is all too relatable in life.
Who we are in perception of others varies from person to person and I feel like there are times in life where we look at how someone is presented or what was said about them down the line and make judgement calls without even knowing the whole story or what the context really is. It’s an interesting concept really, the way we decide to gossip and judge without really knowing what’s going on in another persons world.
I’ve really been thinking about this heavily as I’ve recently began a challenge where it requires “no gossip” and I didn’t really realize how common gossip really is and how absolutely negative it can be.
A person’s reputation should always be taken with a grain of salt, we learned this in high school, well most of us should have. It shouldn’t be held against someone especially if that person, as we all are, is subject to change over the years through experiences and discernment and lessons learned.
