Consistency is the key to success. Consistency leads to habits. Habits form the actions we take every day. Action leads to success. As Anthony Robbins said : “It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.”
I have heard so often by so many different outlets that the main contribution to success is consistency and I have personally seen it with my own eyes. This goes for anything that you want to be successful at; learning a new hobby, creating a successful blog, getting youtube famous or any form of social media famous, starting a small business, whatever you decide to do in life you have to be consistent to be successful!
I scheduled my blog posts to run every Monday and Friday, you may not have even noticed but that what I’ve been doing for the past month. Back before I took a leave I was posting two to three times a week and certain things on certain days, I noticed that the more that I posted the more traffic that my blog generated and one of my main for of advertising was my Facebook page, twitter and Instagram story and the more I was consistent with daily posts the more traffic my blog created. I’m finally starting to pick my up the traffic I had before and it honestly feels so good to be back on track.
As far as my Mary Kay business goes, I mainly did that via word of mouth. I have my small customer based and their friends and family and I constantly would check on them, ask them how they like their products, etc and that’s how my business started booming. Here recently we have had to resort a lot to online sales and Facebook groups and things which is totally fine but it was a complete adjustment. I had my facebook customer page/group that I posted on occasionally but I was never consistent in what and when I was posting. I am certainly getting better though!
Consistency is especially important in business. Restaurants, for example, must be consistent, because customers come in expecting the same good food all the time. If they slip up even one day, they lose customers. Consistency establishes reputations.
Another example, think about one of your goals. It requires consistent effort to push toward that goal. If you are not consistently focused on achieving it, you will likely fall back into old habits or lose interest. Being consistent is the difference between failure and success. The late Jim Rohn, entrepreneur and author, said: “Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals.”
What this means for you is that you should set aside at least a hour a day on average of focused work on whatever it is you’re working toward. You can’t multitask, so stop trying. Turn off Facebook, Skype, mobile phone, tell your parents/spouse not to disturb you.
And it will be hard, even harder when initial excitement and enthusiasm wear off. You will start to make excuses. One day might go by where you don’t do anything at all, then another day, and another, until you finally quit. Don’t let this happen to you. Don’t be a quitter. That’s not you. Make a plan and stick to it, and eventually you will get there. Maybe it will take a year, maybe even two, but consistent work will bring results.
Everyone wants consistency, whether it regards running a business, investing, supervising employees, dieting, exercising or parenting. Consistency develops routines and builds momentum. It forms habits that become almost second nature.
Leadership guru John Maxwell said: “Small disciplines repeated with consistency every day lead to great achievements gained slowly over time.”
In any business, customers expect the same standards. The last thing people want is to be surprised — they want predictability. Let’s face it — we live in an unpredictable world. When people get what they want, they are happy and will return.
This goes for blogging, vlogging and any other forms of social media. This is why having niches is so important in this industry.
What is one of your goals you want to achieve this year? What are you doing to reach that goal?
I hope this left you with a little bit of inspiration.
with love,
