Entanglements.
I just recently watched the Will and Jada Smith’s video four days after it was posted, the 12 minute video spiraled into viral effect as clips and memes popped up everywhere about Ms.Jada’s “entanglement” with August Alsina. Meme’s such as the ones shown below even some more graphic ones of August leaked nudes saying “This is what she was entangled with.” but don’t worry we won’t show those.
For those of you who don’t know what a meme is, by definition it is: an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation. a.k.a just a funny picture taken from a viral news outlet or post and turned into something comical and often times not related. I just want to justify the fact that I am not by any means a viral or gossip blogger. Although that would be fun and exciting it would also be extremely time consuming. I still personally haven’t viewed anything else leading up to this video. I don’t know how the information got leaked or how it reached news headlines I’m just going to speak on what I saw and also address a meme that was presented.
You still want that Will and Jada love?
Is it bad that my answer is, yes? Bare with me here.
“Will and Jada Pinkett Smith make up one of the most famous and long-lasting relationships in Hollywood, but the road hasn’t been a conventional one. They’ve been married for 22 years, and have both been remarkably open about both the struggles and the triumphs of their strong union over the years.”
Obviously, I don’t want someone who is going to cheat on me but according to the interview the two decided to separate before the affair happened. Again, not something I would ideally want to happen either. This was a tough emotional time for the both of them. They were both needed to be healed in different ways. She especially said that she used August to heal herself because he himself was going through a hard time and it felt good for her to help someone in that healing process.
But for someone to say that this affair should have broke them clearly shows that our generation has such a “throw it away” mentality. Let me dig into that a bit, I feel like it’s been well known that there are a lot of individuals in our generation that if something is broken, instead of taking the time, energy or even money to fix it they would rather invest themselves in a whole new product. But why? In my opinion, relationships aren’t easily replaced and when it comes to repairing a broken relationship, if it’s important to you, you’ll find a way. If not, you’ll find an excuse. You have to seek value in your relationship and make it a priority. Although, it certainly takes two people to be in a relationship and if one part isn’t willing to fix what’s broken it may not be possible to fully repair it. However, we only have control over our actions and our takes on the relationship.
So yes, I want that Will and Jada love. To have that love. That unconditional love. Where you can be yourself and face your demons without feeling like you are at risk of losing your family. Years ago, I watched an interview with Will where he was talking about happiness. Will Smith said, “her happiness is not my responsibility. She should be happy and I should be happy individually. Then we come together and share our happiness. Giving someone a responsibility to make you happy when you can’t do it for yourself is selfish”. I feel like that was such a strong, mature take on the situation. This quote doesn’t mean your significant other shouldn’t and doesn’t make you happy. It simply means that your sole happiness should come from yourself and having two already happy people together can only enhance the happiness felt.
